Past Seasons

2020-2021

Summer 2020 began with the most successful fundraiser in A Voice for Good's history. Thank you to everyone who helped us continue to make a foundation for a strong A Voice for Good possible!

With our Spring 2020 performances canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Fall 2020 saw a miraculous, COVID-accomidated broadcast of a short program entitled "Songs of the Heart," which featured several songs from the Spring 2020 program. The recording was also included as part of the 2020 ACDA Conference, in which A Voice for Good was invited to participate.

Easter 2021 saw another COVID-accomadated, but somewhat larger choir that performed a recorded broadcast of The Heavens are Open based on the Restoration Proclamation. The choir rehearsed in small groups and then came together for the first time at the recording space the day of the recording. Many of the songs from the broadcast can be viewed here.

Overall, we saw many miracles in the 2020-2021 season as the Lord helped us navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and keep making music!

2019-2020

In December 2019, A Voice for Good’s first chamber-sized Christmas choir, performed a Christmas-themed program entitled Candlelight Carols.

Rehearsals began in January 2020 for A Voice for Good’s first specifically multi-faith choir at our newly formed Salt Lake City chapter, “A Voice for Good at The University of Utah.” Under musical direction from Miranda Evans, with support from Brian Hassard and Ryan and Emma Tatton, our 40-person choir made great strides.

In Provo, CJ Madsen and David Kime prepared an original program to celebrate the roots of the ongoing Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Joseph Smith’s First Vision, with a choir of over 100 people. Oh, What Songs of the Heart: A Celebration of Restoration Hymns includes favorite arrangements of well known hymns and folk-songs, as well as new arrangements and original songs by Christian Orme, CJ Madsen, David Kime, and others. Unfortunately, with the onset of a global COVID-19 pandemic, both the Provo and Salt Lake spring choirs had to cancel all performances. In early 2020, we also took important financial steps to make the organization viable during the long-term.

2018-2019

The 2018-2019 operational year was one of continued growth and firsts for A Voice for Good. For the first time, two Easter-season choirs were organized. Rob Gardner’s Lamb of God was performed by one A Voice for Good choir in Provo and Springville churches. Another Provo-based A Voice for Good choir prepared and performed CJ’s One Fold, One Shepherd, a sacred choral work based on The Book of Mormon – Another Testament of Jesus Christ. The choir also recorded One Fold, One Shepherd in studio during the season for its professional album release. Additionally, members of both choirs performed a combined fireside performance at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City featuring pieces from both works.

Our combined Easter-season choir and orchestra prepared and performed Rob Gardner’s Lamb of God and the orchestral premiere of CJ Madsen’s One Fold, One Shepherd. The combined group of over 100 musicians were well received in both Utah County and Salt Lake County performances. On 30 January 2018, A Voice for Good was incorporated as a registered non-profit organization. The organization also received its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status during this operational year.

2016-2017

During the organization’s first operational year, we sponsored our inaugural Easter-season choir. The A Voice for Good Choir performed Rob Gardner’s Lamb of God in early 2017. Incredible talent and hours of volunteer time resulted in a choir and small orchestra of dedicated musicians from both Salt Lake and Utah counties. The performances, held in various Provo and Salt Lake City churches, were enthusiastically received by the community and opened the doors to future choirs and projects from A Voice for Good!
